I have a new set of monitor pictures showing up on my laptop that are not connected.?

I was working on microsoft updates and its problem of not letting me get to the web page and was doing a walk thru when it told me to click here and if the window opens the problem is not your internet if it does not its your internet browser.It was IE 7.0 or 6.0 whichever as I am running a late model HP with XP home with SP2.IT popped up and said IE has blocked you from going to this site for your protection.Ok I know I can go to security and do custom to let it go to Updates but when I closed the window I had another set of monitors meaning a second connection on my screen at the bottom.It says RealtekRTL8139/810xfamily fast.I have never used linux on either of my computers on this network.The desktop is still on a ethernet connection.
